Ableton Live multiplayer: ranked battles on a MIDI track
Gambit adds online multiplayer to Ableton Live. Drop it on a MIDI track, hit Play online and battle another producer at 5-minute chess, live, with every move generating a new sound.
How ranked multiplayer works
- Ranked 5-minute blitz. Click Play online and get matched with a producer near your rating. Every win, loss and draw moves your Elo rating.
- Only the winner keeps the sounds. Every move of a rated game generates new sounds. Win and they're yours to save, export and drag into your beat. Lose and they're locked. A draw lets both players keep them.
- Casual games and friends. Send a friend a game code for an unranked match, chat, offer a draw, rematch.
- Fair play. Server-run clocks, no eval bar, no hints, no take-backs against a person.
- Crash-proof. If your DAW crashes, reopen Gambit and rejoin the same game.
Play online in Ableton Live
- Install Gambit for Windows or Mac.
- In Ableton, open Settings > Plug-Ins, turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders and click Rescan.
- Drag Gambit from Browser > Plug-Ins onto a MIDI track.
- Click Play online, choose Rated or Casual, and find an opponent.
- Win, and drag the generated MIDI into a clip.
Infinite sounds, one chessboard
Outside of battles, Gambit is a full trap synth: every chess position becomes a brand-new patch across 33 instruments (rage leads, plugg bells, e-pianos, pads, 808s and more), with Melody, Arp and Chords generators and MIDI you can drag straight into your project. There are about 4.8×1044 legal chess positions, so the sounds never run out.
