Gambit ยท online multiplayer VST
A chess VST: every move is a new sound
Gambit is a synthesizer you play by playing chess. The board reads the position (material, space, king safety, mobility, centre control and piece activity) and turns it into oscillators, filters, envelopes and effects. Play a move, hear a new sound. Practise against a bot from 400 to 2400 Elo with live commentary, or battle real producers online.
How ranked multiplayer works
- Ranked 5-minute blitz. Click Play online and get matched with a producer near your rating. Every win, loss and draw moves your Elo rating.
- Only the winner keeps the sounds. Every move of a rated game generates new sounds. Win and they're yours to save, export and drag into your beat. Lose and they're locked. A draw lets both players keep them.
- Casual games and friends. Send a friend a game code for an unranked match, chat, offer a draw, rematch.
- Fair play. Server-run clocks, no eval bar, no hints, no take-backs against a person.
- Crash-proof. If your DAW crashes, reopen Gambit and rejoin the same game.
Get started
- Download Gambit (free trial, Windows or Mac).
- Load it as an instrument in FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro or any DAW, or open the standalone app.
- Play the bot, hold a key and hear the position, or click Play online.
Infinite sounds, one chessboard
Outside of battles, Gambit is a full trap synth: every chess position becomes a brand-new patch across 33 instruments (rage leads, plugg bells, e-pianos, pads, 808s and more), with Melody, Arp and Chords generators and MIDI you can drag straight into your project. There are about 4.8×1044 legal chess positions, so the sounds never run out.
Gambit is an independent plugin. FL Studio is a trademark of Image-Line, Logic Pro of Apple, Ableton Live of Ableton; Gambit is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
